Brookway gets go ahead for Health Academy......

It is proposed that Brookway High School and Sports College will be closed on the 31 August 2010 subject to 600 place, co-educational, 11-16 Health Academy being established in its place from 1 September 2010. It is proposed that pupils currently attending Brookway High School and Sports College will be able to transfer automatically to the new Health Academy. However, if parents/carers prefer, admission maybe sort at other schools in the area, subject to the availability of places.

The new Health Academy is proposed to be built on the new premises on the existing Brookway site. Special transport arrangement are therefore are not necessary, although the City Council will continue to operate a free travel pass scheme. Please note this will not affect the Brookway Community Sports Facility.

From 2010 the proposed Health Academy will admit 120 pupils to year 7

The New Health Academy

A new kind of school is coming to Wythenshawe, one that improves education for all children in the local area. This school will be the Manchester Health Academy which will open its doors to students in September 2010.

The new Academy will offer state-of-the-art facilities and a curriculum and opportunities that will equip students for the 21st century.  The Academy will specialise in health sciences and will work in partnership with local hospitals.
